Thonglor & Ekamai

A Thai Rustic restaurant

Jirakaan serves Thai food from recorded old recipe of Ratanakosin Era inherited from the reign of King Rama 2. The most prosperous years of cuisine evolution is during the reign of King Rama 5 when Thailand started to have printing/publishing house and royal family members who had been assigned to work in royal kitchen started to share their families' recipe to public. Thai cuisine has been drastically changing, developing, evolving since then. We trace back how Thai people eat in the past both in Palace and Village and revive those beautiful memories onto the plates at Jirakaan. No pork menu and all meats are from halal sources.

Everyone enjoyed the unusual variety of dishes and the quality of the food. A definite go to place for Muslims looking for Halal food.

We were a group of 9 pax dining at Jirakaan for the first time. We found the restaurant on Google and what attracted us was the old mansion with its antique retro decor and objets d’art on display, and the tall tree in the middle of the house. The food was a very interesting fusion of tastes and every dish was so delicious, that we want to come back to try more. We highly recommend this little hidden gem and would not hesitate to come back.

The reviews highlighted the authenticity and freshness of the food, particularly praising the coconut seafood curry, steamed spicy and sour fish, and various Thai appetizers. While some dishes received mixed feedback, the majority were described as flavorful and well-executed, making it a recommended spot for both Thai cuisine lovers and those looking to try something new.

A hidden gem along Soi 51. Very good service by the staff and nice ambience. The coconut seafood curry was very flavorful and the steamed fish was fresh. Will definitely come back when we are back in BKK

Halal restaurant that sells alcohol. Fried fish was fresh and nicely deep fried. Sauce wasn’t really good. The rest was soso Bartender special isn’t nice. Alcohol too light, not worth.

Their short rib was very good - easily one of the best in town competing with much more upscale eateries. They also have a Thai menu and we tried the appetisers and they were all very good indeed. Staff were passionate, friendly and knowledgeable about the food they served - specially Anil. It is not everyday that I come across staff like him. Overall I’d highly recommend this place.

Love the authentic Thai food, we deliberately avoided pad thai and tried to experience more different Thai cuisine. Love the steamed spicy and sour fish, very fresh Never tried mussel skewers before, glad we did, mussels were fat and fresh and the sauce was just delicious, very rich in flavour And the coconut splash was so fresh, refreshing!
